Avoiding Disruptions In Critical Communications

The MOTOTRBO Capacity Max Bridge (CMB) is a pivotal innovation for organizations transitioning from Motorola’s Connect Plus System. The discontinuation of the Connect Plus System could have posed significant challenges for entities reliant on legacy systems, potentially leading to disruptions in critical communication flows and costly overhauls.

With Motorola’s strategic shift towards the more advanced Capacity Max system, seamless integration between the old and the new is essential. The Capacity Max Bridge addresses these concerns head-on by enabling legacy systems, like Connect Plus, to work alongside Motorola’s current radio system offerings.

Seamless Connectivity Between New And Legacy Systems

The CMB is specialized software that facilitates seamless connectivity between Connect Plus and Capacity Max sites. As a client application within the Capacity Max System Server (CMSS), CMB efficiently directs various call types and controls traffic across the shared IP network. Supported call categories encompass Group Voice calls, Private Voice Calls, Emergency Voice calls, and Emergency Alarm/Alerts. CMB activation necessitates upgrading the Subscriber and Repeater firmware and acquiring a Capacity Max operation license and a CMB license.

Activation of the CMB enables support for Wave OnCloud, seamlessly integrating the functionalities of both systems. When a WAVE system is connected to Capacity Max, CMB bridges supported call types – such as Group Voice calls, Private Voice calls, Emergency Voice calls, and Emergency Alarm/Alerts – between Capacity Max and Connect Plus.

This integration ensures smooth communication and interoperability across platforms and is crucial for several reasons, including:

Organizations can maintain operational continuity without facing the downtime or disruptions that might accompany a full system upgrade. This is particularly vital for sectors where communication is critical, such as public safety, manufacturing, and logistics.

By allowing existing Connect Plus systems to integrate with Capacity Max, Motorola offers a cost-effective solution for organizations. This approach negates the immediate need for substantial investment in completely new hardware or infrastructure, thus providing a smoother financial transition.

The bridge supports current communication needs and lays the groundwork for future upgrades. Organizations can plan their transition to newer technologies at their own pace, ensuring they can leverage advanced features and capabilities when ready.

The Capacity Max system offers advanced features, improved security, and better overall performance. The bridge ensures that organizations can start benefiting from these improvements even if they haven’t fully transitioned away from Connect Plus systems.

Features and Benefits of MOTOTRBO Capacity Max Bridge

Featuring high-performance and next-generation digital trunking capabilities, the MOTOTRBO Capacity Max system operates on a distributed architecture tailored for both voice and data transmission. While control remains centralized, the system optimizes traffic routing to reduce costs and enhance overall performance.

Beyond the fundamental interoperability the DMR standard provides, Capacity Max offers advanced functionality. With features like Digital Emergency and Work Order Ticketing, users have the tools to drive business success.

Capacity Max empowers you with centralized management capabilities and offers complete control over your system. Through system management software, you gain command over infrastructure, devices, and talk groups, all logically organized to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, updating and upgrading become more streamlined processes, with mechanisms in place for effortlessly deploying software and firmware patches to the system server, infrastructure, and radios.

Ensuring robust security measures, the Capacity Max trunked radio system prioritizes the protection of all voice and data and controlling traffic within the IP network through encryption. Furthermore, all radios undergo secure authentication processes. For added security, the system allows remote disabling and re-enabling of devices in case of misplacement or theft.

Capacity Max integrates with existing MOTOTRBO systems, facilitating a smooth transition and enabling effortless migration through a straightforward software update process.

With MOTOTRBO Capacity Max, expanding your system to meet evolving needs is effortless. Each system can accommodate up to 250 sites, with each site supporting up to 3,000 users and up to 100 voice talkpaths.

Including up to six additional data repeaters per site enhances support for intensive text and data usage, GPS, SCADA, and Alarm Management functionalities. Compatible with our extensive range of MOTOTRBO radios, you can customize the solution according to your operational requirements.

Compliant with DMR Tier III standards, the system incorporates all the innovative features characteristic of MOTOTRBO, including advanced location tracking, long text messaging, and enhanced security measures. For customers requiring interoperability with radios from other vendors, Capacity Max offers the flexibility to operate in DMR Tier III “Interoperability” mode, disabling specific features as needed.

Designed for high resiliency and availability, Capacity Max incorporates multiple layers of redundancy to ensure uninterrupted system operation. Optional redundant controllers, IP switches, and site repeaters can be deployed to mitigate the impact of single points of failure. Additionally, the system offers the option to provision a second control channel per site, further enhancing system availability to an ultra-high level.
