Reliable Mobile Coverage is a Modern-Day Necessity

With the increasing reliance on mobile devices for communication, business operations, and personal use, the demand for consistent and robust indoor coverage has never been higher. Reliable in-building mobile coverage is not just a convenience but a necessity.

InfiniG’s Neutral Host as a Service (NHaaS) solution (also known as Mobile Coverage-as-a-Service or MCaaS) is at the forefront of addressing these challenges, offering an innovative approach that leverages shared spectrum and advanced cloud technology. It represents a significant advancement in-building mobile coverage. By leveraging shared spectrum and cloud technology, NHaaS provides a scalable, cost-effective, and reliable solution that enhances connectivity, property value, and user satisfaction across various industries.

Understanding NHaaS

Neutral Host as a Service (NHaaS) is a revolutionary solution designed to extend public cellular service within buildings, using small radio nodes that share the Citizens Broadband Radio Service (CBRS) spectrum. This approach allows seamless integration with a building’s existing LAN infrastructure and broadband service, enabling each mobile user to connect to their respective mobile network operator (MNO). The result is a cost-effective and scalable solution that offers true mobile coverage from multiple MNOs, enhancing user experience and satisfaction.

Key Advantages of NHaaS

Unlike traditional Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), NHaaS provides a simpler and more affordable solution, making it accessible to a broader range of building owners and enterprises.

NHaaS supports multiple MNOs, ensuring users have access to their preferred mobile networks and improving connectivity and satisfaction.

The solution adapts to changing requirements and technological advancements, allowing for easy network evolution.

By improving mobile coverage, NHaaS can significantly increase property value and tenant satisfaction, making it an attractive option for commercial property owners.

NHaaS is suitable for a diverse range of commercial buildings, from small offices to large industrial complexes, as well as various sectors such as healthcare, education, hospitality, entertainment, retail, and more.

NHaaS supports multiple MNOs, ensuring that users within the building can connect to their respective mobile networks. This multi-operator capability enhances user experience and satisfaction, particularly in environments with diverse mobile service users.

The solution’s plug-and-play design allows quick installation, often within a few months. This rapid deployment is a significant advantage for property owners and enterprises looking to improve their in-building coverage without extensive downtime.

Components of NHaaS

The NHaaS solution comprises several key components, each crucial in delivering robust and reliable mobile coverage. These components work together to create a seamless and efficient in-building mobile coverage solution that can be deployed quickly and with minimal disruption to existing infrastructure.

These indoor, ceiling-mount cellular small cells operate in the 3550-3700 MHz TDD range, offering a maximum throughput of 200 Mbps download and 27 Mbps upload. They feature plug-and-play deployment, carrier aggregation, MIMO, SON, and remote management capabilities.

These indoor rack-mount switches support 10/100/1000 BASE-T, with 24 ports and a PoE power budget of 740W. They offer plug-and-play deployment, PoE++ support, PTP awareness, QoS, Layer 3, and remote management.

These outdoor, roof-mount units sync with GNSS (GPS satellites) and support IEEE 1588-2008 PTP Grandmaster with a maximum of 64 PTP endpoints. They are designed for plug-and-play deployment and feature features like outdoor temperature and humidity tolerance, an integrated GNSS receiver and antenna, dual GNSS frequency, Stratum 3E OCXO, PoE, and remote management.

Real-World Application and Use Cases

NHaaS is versatile and suitable for a wide range of industries, including healthcare, education, hospitality, entertainment, commercial real estate, retail, and industrial sectors. The solution addresses the in-building mobile coverage problem exacerbated by modern building materials and construction techniques that block signals from outdoor cell towers.

A notable example of NHaaS in action is its deployment at Arizona State University (ASU). The university faced challenges with poor indoor cellular coverage across its extensive campus, which affected communication for students, faculty, and visitors. By implementing the NHaaS solution, ASU was able to:

Enhance mobile coverage across various campus buildings, ensuring seamless connectivity for all users.

Improve communication among students, staff, and visitors, facilitating a more connected and efficient campus environment.

Increase property value and satisfaction among campus residents, making the university an even more attractive destination for prospective students and faculty.

The success of NHaaS at ASU underscores the effectiveness of the solution in addressing in-building mobile coverage challenges. It provides a scalable and cost-effective approach that benefits all stakeholders.
