Contact tracing helps to identify people (or “contacts”) who may have been exposed to an infected person. It also sets up testing such individuals for infection and isolating or treating those infected. Contact tracing aims to reduce outbreaks within a community and the general population.
In following through, contact tracing can set up medical care specifically geared for high-risk individuals in danger of infection. And it quickly alerts those who need to be informed.
Although the ideal in education is having classes in person, this puts students, staff, faculty, administrators, and custodians in close proximity at risk. Once someone is infected, administrators need to rapidly identify and notify staff and parents whose children have been exposed. Having a successful and productive contact tracing system allows school administrators to stop any outbreaks that could interrupt the school’s functioning.
We help schools by providing touchless technology that pinpoints the date, time, and location that students get on and off school buses and advises administrators whom to notify.
This technology is also used for classrooms, academic buildings, and dormitories from kindergarten through higher education. All students and employees have an RFID card that they use to scan themselves in and out with a contactless scanner. This card will record the time and date the person arrives and departs a room or building.
Badge-based tracking systems can track visitors in addition to employees, and visitors are always asked for their contact information. The system can monitor and document when individuals are in close proximity to one another and for how long they have been in that vicinity.
When employees or visitors report that they have tested positive for COVID-19, the system will check their contacts for the previous two weeks. The system will then gauge the risk of those contacts before informing supervisors so that exposed workers can immediately be sent home. Testing can be done in person to confirm that personnel are checked for health and safety before they exit the workspace. Visitors should be informed and supported to take the necessary safety measures.
By alerting supervisors of possibly tainted contacts, the system helps reduce the number of employees sent home, testing expenses, and downtime. Supervisors can then address risky behavior, such as lingering in break rooms or other common areas and, if need be, enforce temporary closures for sanitization.
We have systems geared for investor-owned electric companies, public power utilities, and electric cooperatives to identify and share leading practices for contact tracing. Our encrypted database system, compiling information gathered during contact tracing interviews, can facilitate follow-up interviews with infected employees and their contacts.
All close contacts should be informed if a seemingly symptomatic employee receives a negative test result. Contacts who are also employees may return to the workplace after verifying that they are asymptomatic.
Our app-based system captures data from various IT systems (such as fleet information and badging systems) to facilitate speed. We then pass along such data to the HR team via a database and dashboard.
Security personnel have taken on new duties post-pandemic. They perform temperature screening, check personal protective equipment (PPE) usage and physical distancing, oversee building occupancy, and assist with contact tracing.
Like many businesses operating in the “new normal,” security companies monitor their overhead costs and often eliminate in-person training. Many security companies have shifted to virtual training for their new personnel, who can join remotely through their phones, tablets, or laptops.
Once these new hires join the workforce, we assist with contact tracing as they are given body cameras, two-way communication devices, and RFID cards. This allows them to know the history of their contacts and can gauge previous risk and, if they become symptomatic, can immediately alert their workforce and set tracing into action.
